Serving Others In Times Of Desperation
A few weeks back, you would’ve thought our country was headed for another Civil War. All you heard about was division, polarization, and hatred.
Then hurricane Harvey, who most of us had not paid any attention to, rolled into one of America’s biggest cities and destroyed it.
And this was not a failure of engineering, or bad levee building. This was simply more rain than any one city could ever handle. It would’ve flooded virtually any similar city.
But as soon as the waters rose, so did the spirit of our country. Americans putting aside any differences, and coming together for the greater good. If you watch national news mainstream media, you will believe that America is headed for another Civil War. But remember that whole industry is controlled by a handful of people in New York and LA. They referred to this area as a flyover state. They have no idea what it is like here on the ground in the real heart of America. That’s why they were so taken aback by seeing Latinos, African-Americans, Caucasians, and total strangers all helping one another. They are actually surprised. Because two or three hundred Nazi seeking pinheads in Charlottesville does not represent the bulk of America. Nor do protesters killing cops represent the bulk of America.
God’s hand in allowing this desperation, showed us what the human spirit is capable of. Please join Peel Law Firm in helping out anyway you’d like. Here are a few ideas:
The Texas Southern Baptist disaster relief are well-trained, gospel sharing, helping hands that are already close by. Click here to support them.
Also, you can just text the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation to Red Cross.
Just remember to show your children not only the horror of disasters that will always happen, but to show them others stepping in and sacrificially loving total strangers. It is a microcosm of the sacrificial love that Christ gave us when He lay down His life for us.
